CPAW NJ January 2020 Pawsitive Mews

NJ Cat Rescue

Meowy thanks to everyone who helped us spay/neuter 612 cats in 2019!

Literally THOUSANDS of lives were saved over the course of these cats’ (9) lives.

RESULTS — Shelter intake reduced, suffering avoided, and awareness increased about the importance of Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return (TNVR) to help reduce the outdoor cat population as an integral part of an effective animal welfare plan.

From the desk of Karen Shinevar, CPAW NJ co-founder and community cat advocate:

2020:  The start of a new decade….and the question on our minds is how can we ensure our small but heartfelt work together saves more lives?

Let’s ALL raise our PAWS and pledge to connect people and resources to help these creatures who can’t help themselves!  My heart breaks as I see Australian animals lying charred along roadsides….what can I do?  Will my donation help?

Yes, of course it will!  But the most impact we can make is within our own COMMUNITY! right on our block…in line at the grocery store…as we stay connected through our favorite social media…. sharing information, asking questions, seeking out resources, supporting those who do the work, and perhaps most of all not judging a situation but being part of the solution.

Please consider how YOU CAN help

SPAY IT FORWARD!

Are you good on the phone or providing customer service?

…..Maybe you could help build bridges between people who just want cats gone and those who work tirelessly to save them.

Do you like research?

…You could help identify available resources and connecting people in need to valuable information.

Like to learn and then help spread the word?

…It’s uplifting teaching a caregiver to trap, to feed more responsibly,  or even how to talk to his neighbor who is afraid of outdoor cats how to keep them out of his yard.

Would you tell your story to help us reach not only the minds but the hearts of people who make policy decisions and are in a position to influence public policy and opinion to support TNVR?

…Animals can’t attend meetings and speak for themselves.

Our January HERO IN ACTION is Dave, a man who in his spare time has spent years perfecting the purrfect shelter — lightweight, well insulated, and waterproof!

Once you purchase one of his handmade items, Dave refurbishes them for free and provides new straw when needed.  This is how this very very special man SPAYS IT FORWARD! and we believe he’s a purrfect example of how just one person can use their spare time to help community cats and their caregivers.

Meowy thanks to Dave!!!   and …special meowy thanks from Mikey, who as you can see from the picture below enjoys the top of his shelter as a sundeck.
